How to use an EDTA Supplement

When I first wanted to take EDTA I really had to research and look around to get some real advice on how to use it. I can now say I know how to use it... for me that is as we will all respond differently. But at least I can talk from experience and I did so much learning on this that it should serve you in some way. First off EDTA stands for Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid. It is a water-soluble molecule that can bind to various metal ions in a reversible way. It is mainly used as a chelating agent, which means that it can form a complex with metal ions by enclosing them within its ring structure. EDTA is often used in medicine as an anticoagulant, in food as a preservative, in cosmetics as a stabiliser, and in industrial processes to remove metal cations from wastewater or as a sequestering agent to prevent metal ion interference with chemical reactions. Now imagine all of this applied to the human body. EDTA is efficient in removing metal ions, it can also eliminate necessary minerals like Zinc, Magnesium, and Calcium.

We sell capsules but EDTA is available in various other forms, sublingual drops, or intravenous injections, and the dosage may differ depending on the form and the concentration of EDTA. We are going to focus on capsules, this is because if you are going IV your practitioner should be guiding you and have experience, if they haven't find another. The capsules are the Calcium Disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate and the amount per capsule is 500mg, no Daily Value has been established, this is pretty meaningless but I want you to know what I took. Also as a disclaimer, you must know EDTA it statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. EDTA and is not intended to treat, cure or prevent any disease. This is just my research what I did and how I would/did take EDTA.

EDTA Supplement

Notes before you start:

  • Choose your supplement, make sure the date is good and it was sealed when you got it.
  • You should store it in a cool dark place, keeping it out of reach of children.
  • Make sure you use it before the expiry, so it will not expire before you finish.
  • If you are pregnant or lactating do not use EDTA, If have liver or kidney impairment, a heart issue, Low levels in your blood of Magnesium, Calcium or Potassium, have a history of seizures or have Tuberculosis consult a healthcare practitioner before taking EDTA.

Your first time...

  • For the 1st time start with 1 capsule: You can / will increase after a few days.
  • Take it with food: You will not absorb that much, studies have shown that absorption rates for all types of EDTA are typically less than 15%, indicating poor absorption. To increase the chances of better absorption, take EDTA on an empty stomach. When consumed with food, EDTA binds to metals and minerals it first comes into contact with, hindering its effectiveness. Thus, it should be taken separately from food to avoid any unwanted binding.
  • The Time to take it: Consider taking it last thing at night, Before you sleep, your body rests, there should be no food in your stomach. Eating close to be time is not good. Upon waking you can eat again and take a Multi-Vitamin & Mineral plus Magnesium (I'll get to supplements next). You can take it at any time of the day but I was on my day time regime of supplements, you also want to avoid food. So I chose detox over night and re-populate and feed during the day. Taking EDTA with food may decrease absorption and effectiveness.
  • Vitamins & Minerals: Experts suggest taking a Multi Vitamin & Mineral within 8 to 12 hours of the the EDTA dose, this in order to target any missing minerals in your system. I took Ancient Purity's Premium Multi Vitamin / Minerals and Cofactors in the morning with a little food. During the day I took Magnesium. Let me be specific, I took 2 Multi's with food in the morning and another 1 with 2 Magnesium tablets. Normally I would choose Magnesium Spray but it has to be at night and i'm taking the EDTA at night, so it's just not practical in the day because you're spraying it on yourself.
  • Food to Eat: Just eat a whole food organic diet while you do this, don't add junk in that you're trying to remove. Eat well away from EDTA.
  • Water / Drinks: Drink water, lots... make sure its clean, pure water, no way from a tap (you know that) I did around 2 Litres a day, I believe this helped flush it out, you could have more maybe less but thats what I did. It supports the detoxification process.
  • Exercise: Movement is crucial, it will really help the detox and mobilisation of toxins out of the body, I would walk and jog daily, you can cycle, swim - but choose the sea... not a chemical wedding local swimming pool.
  • Side Effects: Be aware there are potential side effects, such as stomach upset, headache, or dizziness, consult with your doctor if you experience any adverse reactions.
  • Duration: Consistently use the supplement , the first round I took 2 capsules for 5 days then a day off, then 5 days of 3 capsules. If I started again I'd just start with 3 a night..
  • Serving Size: At night I took 3 capsules together, If you choose to take the capsules you could take them in the day, the issue is you then have to avoid food for a while either side of taking it and it doesn't make sense to take any other supplements near it. This is the conclusion I came to after the research, no I didn't have a lab and a tea of scientists, I read everything I could on EDTA and most stuff online has been copied and pasted or re-written slightly.
  • Enhance EDTA: I will always say Fulvic Acid Minerals, it's detox, it's mineral boost, it's everything. I took it whilst taking EDTA, I took it the following day after the previous night time dose of EDTA. So lunchtime in pure water. Honestly Zeolite would be good too. I mean awesome, It works great, I just wasn't always consistent with the Zeolite, maybe 1 or 2 times in the week I did it, whilst Fulvic I did daily. So I can't say how much Zeolite played a part, but if I was doing this protocol again I'd love to drink the EDTA with a glass of Zeolite every night.
  • Well-Being: Maybe this should go first. When we are in a state of well-being, we feel better able to manage stress, perform their tasks well, and interact with others positively. We have a higher quality of life, and overall happiness. Therefore, it is essential to prioritise it during this detox journey. Think of EDTA as dragging negative dark stuff out of you... Which it is, wake up bright and re-fuel with the right stuff, take again at night to clear the bad stuff out, until it's all pure.
