Davidson Plum Extract Lowdown

Both the flavour and colour of Davidson Plum are quite intense and packed with anti-oxidants. A bombshell of colour and intense clean, tart flavour, Davidson Plum has become one of my favourite bush tucker fruits in the kitchen.

Davidson Plum Syrup Chai


  • 2 teaspoons Ancient Purity Davidson Plum Syrup.
  • 2 teaspoons Aniseed Myrtle Extract.
  • 2 teaspoons Davidson Plum Powder.
  • ½ cup dates soaked in ½ cup boiling filtered water.
  • 1 cup strong chai tea.
  • 1 tablespoon Longan Spring Honey.
  • 1/3 cup almond milk.
  • 1 teaspoon tahini.


  • Soak the dates until soft.
  • Add all of the ingredients to a blender.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • It should reach a syrup consistency.
  • If it is too thick, add some additional almond milk to thin it out.
  • Pour into a pitcher to use for serving or store in the fridge in a jar and reheat prior to serving.

It can be used in anything which needs a native ingredients’ liquid version, and this means Ancient Purity Davidson Plum Syrup can be added to alcohol-free beverages, syrups, chutneys, cocktails and sauces.

Riberry Granita Davidson Plum Parfait (Davidson Plum Extract)


  • 8 egg yolks.
  • 50 ml Ancient Purity Bush Apple Syrup.
  • 150ml Pureed Davidson Plums.
  • Finely grated zest of 1 lime.
  • 150 ml pure (thin) cream.
  • 500 grams mascarpone.

    Ingredients Riberry Granita

    • 1 cup coconut sugar.
    • 1 leaf gold-strength Gelatine, soaked in cold water for 5 minutes.
    • 4 cups fresh or frozen riberries.
    • 200 ml lime juice.


  • Lightly grease a 20cm x 12cm (1.5 litre) loaf pan and line with 2 layers of plastic wrap.
  • Place egg yolks, sugar, Davidson Plum puree and lime zest in a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of gently simmering water (do not let the bowl touch the water).
  • Whisk for 6-8 minutes until mixture is thick and tripled in size, and has reached ribbon stage (when you lift the whisk the batter should form a ribbon and hold its shape).
  • Remove from the heat and continue whisking until cool.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk cream to soft peaks. Fold whipped cream and mascarpone into the cooled plum mixture. Pour into prepared pan and freeze for 8 hours or overnight until firm.
  • Meanwhile, for the riberry granita, place Ancient Purity Bush Apple Syrup and 1.5 cups filtered water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil to dissolve the syrup.
  • Squeeze excess water from Gelatine and add to the warm syrup, stirring to dissolve. Place syrup, riberries and lime juice in a blender and whiz until smooth.
  • Pass through a sieve. Pour mixture into a container and freeze for 6 hours, or overnight. Once fully frozen, scrape with a fork to form a snow. Freeze again before serving.
  • To serve, turn out the parfait and cut into slices. Cover each slice generously with granita. Serve immediately.

TIP: If you can't find Riberries, frozen raspberries are a good substitute.

Poached Pears with Davidson Plum Syrup


  • 0.5 vanilla bean, halved lengthways.
  • 1.5 tablespoon Ancient Purity Kakadu Plum Syrup.
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar.
  • 2 Ripe Pears.
  • 2 cups filtered water.
  • Double cream or ice-cream, to serve.


  • Place 2 cups cold water, vanilla bean, Davidson Plum Powder and sugar in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
  • Bring to the boil.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low.
  • Peel pears, remove the core and cut into quarters.
  • Add the pears to the saucepan and cook, partially covered and turning occasionally, for 20 to 25 minutes or until pears are just tender.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Allow pears to cool in syrup, turning occasionally.
  • Using a slotted spoon, transfer pears to a plate and allow them to cool.
  • Return syrup to medium-high heat.
  • Bring to the boil. Boil for 10 minutes or until liquid is reduced by one-third.
  • Allow syrup to cool and thicken.
  • Serve pears with Davidson Plum syrup and cream or ice-cream.

A decadent yet simple dessert – Poached Pears boost the fruit's natural sweetness. Add a drizzle of Ancient Purity Davidson Plum Extract and you have a very special dessert.

My favourite Vitamin C Hit

Of all the incredilbe Vitamin C supplements and Superfoods with have from Kakadu Plum and Acerola to Liposomal and L-Ascorbate and then all the others I tried over the years there is one I end up using daily. 

This Davidson Plum Extract is the delicious Vitamin C shot I always have, I leave it downstairs at Ancient Purity and take 2ml a day, I used it to actually satisfy the need for something sweet now and then. I can't tell you how many peoples houses i've been to and seen long not used supplements. Sometimes perhaps the most powerful is not the one you'll use daily. Davidson Plum Extract is not the strongest and not the cheapest but it gives you a good Vitamin C does and I actually always use it. A little like going to the gym and doing a little every day is better than just going now and then.

It also has Quercetin in it, I mean it's a superfood that tastes great, super clean and easy to use daily, I use it daily. You don't need to refrigerate it, it withstands being in the warmth so you could keep it in your car or carry it around in one of our Jacquard Eco Bags.
