Ion* Gut Biome (Restore)
ION* Gut Health works at the gut lining, where 70% of your immune system resides, to strengthen your barrier function and defend against environmental toxins. Now there is a new generation, soil-derived supplement that promotes an optimal gut environment. It is not a probiotic, Ion* Gut Biome and it is not a prebiotic. Rather, it is a carbon-rich, alkaline liquid, comprised of Terrahydrite™, a proprietary formulation of Aqueous Humic Substances (A category of naturally occurring organic compounds that arise from the decomposition and transformation of plant, animal, and microbial residues) and trace mineral amino acid complexes.
Ion* Gut Biome has been shown in lab testing to increase and strengthen the tight junction proteins in the gut lining, our frontline of defence against environmental factors in our food, water, and even air, thereby impacting the immune system, as much of the body’s immune system is in the gut lining. Think of Ion* Gut Biome as the catalyst to restart your microbiome. And don’t forget, our guts are not impenetrable barriers because they need to let vital nutrients and substances pass through it to reach the parts of our bodies which require them most. That is where our gut lining comes in.

Gut Health Science
ION* Gut Health supports the body’s production of beneficial enzymes through redox signaling (cellular communication). Those beneficial enzymes support the tight junctions (the seals between cells) in our gut lining – the barrier protecting us from toxic substances like glyphosate and gluten while allowing the entry of beneficial nutrients.
“Almost nothing influences our gut bacteria as much as the food we eat. Preboiotics are the most powerful tool at our disposal if we want to support our good bacteria - that is, those that are already there and are there to stay.” - Giulia Enders
It’s a critical barrier to keep strong so that a vibrant microbiome can flourish. Good health depends entirely on gut health because a lot more than digestion happens in the gut. It’s also where proper immune system function begins and the majority of our neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, are created. Say yes to ION*Gut Health and you are saying yes to optimal gut-brain connectivity and feel-good transmissions, protection from the toxins we face every day in our air, water, and food, immune function, digestive wellness, and supported gluten tolerance. Rebecca Seal from The Guardian says: ''Scientists are only just discovering the enormous impact of our gut health – and how it could hold the key to everything from tackling obesity to overcoming anxiety and boosting immunity.'' Microscopic Communication - Improve Gut Health Naturally
Gut bacteria communicate with each other to drive health in the entire body. They communicate with the cells of the gut lining to digest food, to create and send neurotransmitters that support brain health, and to help regulate immune responses. Instead of actively changing the balance of the gut microbiome, ION*Gut Health acts as a communication network that helps bacteria communicate better with each other and with the body’s cells.
Digging deeper, ION*Gut Health’s unique carbon molecules support the native communication network between gut flora and the gut lining. This fascinating communication known as redox signaling is what allows the microbiome and the gut lining to function together intelligently. When gut flora and the gut lining can communicate effectively, the gut can create balance and health, on its own. It’s impossible to overstate the impact that gut health (and balanced, diverse gut flora) has on overall health.
Microbiome Balance - Ion* Gut Biome
A balanced diversity of gut flora can have profound benefits for immunity. About 70% of your body’s immune system resides directly behind your gut lining. That means your immune system is in the line of fire so to speak of any irritants that get through a damaged or weak gut lining, leading to inflammation and ultimately to chronic inflammatory conditions. Exposure to common irritants such as gluten and pesticides in our environment have been shown to directly damage the delicate yet resilient gut lining. Once it’s damaged, toxins and food particles seep through the lining and trigger inflammation responses that irritate the immune system.
The ION*Biome product suite is a revolution for your body (along with your kids’ and pets’ bodies), supporting its innate ability to drive health from within. Improve gut health by going beyond probiotics, promoting healthy communication within the microbiome, and boosting your body’s immune health with ION*Gut Health. Ion* Gut Biome leads the way in Gut Health Naturally
Gut-Brain Health Explained
The Gut-Brain Axis is bidirectional communication comprised of three systems... the intestinal barrier and immune system, the endocrine (hormone-producing cells) system and the nervous system. Approximately 15% of this intestinal lining is composed of enteric endocrine cells. These cells produce over 90% of the serotonin and over 50% of the dopamine neurotransmitters. The brain does not produce its own neurotransmitters, the gut does. This is a massive paradigm shift in the current ideology of the brain’s functions. In light of this data, it is not surprising that damage to the microbiome and intestinal lining is commonly associated with neurologic diseases such as autism, depression, and anxiety. The gut barrier is the first line of defence against intestinal pathogens and toxins. It is responsible for the carefully regulated passage of water, electrolytes, macro-, and micronutrients from our diet. In order for our bodies and minds to function properly, our gut must first do so.
The gut-brain connection is no joke; it can link extreme nervousness to stomach issues and vice versa. Did you ever experience a "gut-wrenching" feeling? Do certain scenes make you "feel nauseous"? Did you ever feel "butterflies" in your stomach? We use these expressions for a reason. The gastrointestinal tract is sensitive to emotion. Anger, anxiety, sadness, elation and all of these feelings (and others) can trigger symptoms in the gut. The brain has a direct effect on the stomach and intestines. For example, the very thought of eating can release the stomach's juices before food gets there. This connection goes both ways. A troubled intestine can send signals to the brain, just as a troubled brain can send signals to the gut. Therefore, a person's stomach or intestinal distress can be the cause or the product of worriedness, stress, or low mood. That's because the brain and the gastrointestinal (GI) system are intimately connected. This is especially true in cases where a person experiences gastrointestinal upset with no obvious physical cause. For such functional GI disorders, it is difficult to try to heal a distressed gut without considering the role of stress and emotion.
Ion* Gut Biome… Closing Thoughts
Microbiome refers to the collective genomes of the micro-organisms in a particular environment, and microbiota is the community of micro-organisms themselves. Approximately 100 trillion micro-organisms (most of them bacteria, but also viruses, fungi, and protozoa) exist in the human gastrointestinal tract! The microbiome is now best thought of as a virtual organ of the body. The human genome consists of about 23 000 genes, whereas the microbiome encodes over three million genes producing thousands of metabolites, which replace many of the functions of the host, consequently influencing the host’s fitness, phenotype, and health.
Gut microbes are essential to many aspects of human health including immunity, metabolic and neurobehavioural traits. Different levels of evidence support the role of gut microbiota in human health, from animal models and human studies. Specific foods and dietary patterns can all influence the abundance of different types of bacteria in the gut, which in turn can affect health. “The road to health is paved with good intestines!” - Sherry A. Rogers
